Where to start exporting?

Plan your first export in seven steps. Each step has a free tool that makes it easier; most need no account.

  1. Step 1

    Find your product's GTİP code

In Türkiye every product has a 12-digit GTİP code; its first 6 digits are the HS code the whole world shares. Duties in the destination, the documents asked for and the export statistics are all found by it.

  2. Step 2

    Choose your market

The product export scorecard shows where Türkiye sells the product most, your competitors and the buyers. Markets where demand grows but Türkiye's share is still small are in Growing markets.

  3. Step 3

    Learn the documents asked for

Each country asks for its own documents and rules: certificates of conformity, labelling, health and origin rules. See the list by country and product code.

  4. Step 4

    Work out your delivered price

A buyer compares the price at their door, not your factory price. Add freight, insurance, customs duty and VAT, and see what your goods cost in the destination.

  5. Step 5

    Learn the state supports

Türkiye's Ministry of Trade covers part of costs such as trade fairs, market research and promotion. Read the programmes, their rates and this year's caps, and prepare your application file in the panel.

  6. Step 6

    Find buyers

Look through open tenders and purchase requests abroad. Own your company's page, so buyers find you with the right facts.

  7. Step 7

    Meet your exporters' association

Exporters in Türkiye come together in their sector's exporters' association, under the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TİM). Find your sector's association.

This guide is a general road map. For the rules and the supports' conditions, the current texts of the Ministry of Trade and the bodies concerned prevail.
