Navedene aktivnosti zahtijevaju primjenu kemikalija odgovarajuće kvalitete , sastava i drugih specificiranih svojstava primjerenih njihovoj namjeni i uvjetima uporabe. S obzirom na raznolikost i specifičnost znanstveno-istraživačkih i laboratorijskih postupaka, predmetne kemikalije moraju biti odgovarajuće kvalitete i svojstava za primjenu u visokoškolskoj i znanstveno-istraživačkoj laboratorijskoj praksi te udovoljavati zahtjevima utvrđenima tehničkim specifikacijama. Zahtjevi se osobito odnose na sastav, stupanj čistoće, kvalitetu, koncentraciju, oblik i veličinu pakiranja te druga svojstva relevantna za njihovu namjenu i predviđeni način uporabe.
